ANGELES CITY — Comebacking Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin has assailed Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and called him the true traditional politician (trapo).
“Si Pamintuan ang tunay na trapo. Paanong hindi trapo iyan, nung nagkakaposisyon sa gobyerno ay walang ginawa kundi payamanin ang sarili,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin said Pamintuan in many occasions, including the recent State Of the City Address (SOCA), called the former trapo.
“Dapat tanggalin na natin ang mga trapo palitan na natin ng mga bata,” Lazatin quoted Pamintuan.
“Si Mayor Ed Pamintuan ang dapat na nating palitan bago maubos ang pera ng siyudad,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin has repeatedly questioned the origin of Pamintuan’s wealth, pointing out that the incumbent mayor has no business ventures.
“Magtataka saan galing ang yaman ng Mayor na ito?,” Lazatin asked.
Lazatin recalled that in the late 1980’s, Pamintuan, then the City’s Vice-Mayor, was only riding an old Toyota and only renting a house in Marisol now Barangay Ninoy Aquino.
“When he was elected Mayor in 1992, he was able to build a big house and bought luxurious vehicles,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin also asked how can his son, Councilor Edgardo Pamintuan, Jr., afford to buy a BMW Z4 which is worth P3Million, a Ford Explorer worth P2.6Million, a yellow and red colored Ford Mustang worth P3Million each or a total of P6Million and a Toyota FJ Cruiser worth P1.8Million?
“Paano makakabili si Councilor Edu ng mga kotseng mamahalin sa negosyo niyang maliit na bakery, beauty products at sa P65,000 niyang suweldo sa Konseho?” Lazatin asked.
“Like father, like son? Saan galing ang pera ng mga ito? Hindi ba itong mga ito ang trapo,” Lazatin declared.
Lazatin earlier declared his intention to run in 2019 as City Mayor to rid Angeles City of corrupt officials.
Lazatin is the only son of former Pampanga Governor Rafael Lazatin and Lareto Feliciano of Magalang.
Both the Lazatins and Felicianos belong to the old rich family in Pampanga and Central Luzaon.
“Noong ako po ay sumabak sa pulitika nabawasan papo ang namanako sa aking papa,” Lazatin said.
In a statement on Monday, Pamintuan said: “While I am busy with build, build, build, they (Lazatins) are busy with rehash, rehash, rehash. Truly, a trademark of a trapo.” – (Press Release)
