Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Rene G. Romero has recommended alternative routes to ease heavy traffic following the damage to the Marilao Interchange Bridge along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The bridge’s structural issues have caused severe congestion, prompting officials and transport groups to explore solutions.
For Trucks (Cargo and Delivery Vehicles)
Southbound Trucks (North Luzon to Manila)
Option 1: Exit NLEX at San Simon → Take MacArthur Highway → Re-enter NLEX at Valenzuela.
Option 2: Exit NLEX at Bocaue → Take Igulot Road (Bocaue) → Enter MacArthur Highway → Re-enter NLEX at Mindanao Ave. Exit.
Option 3: Take SCTEx → Enter Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) → Use SCTEx to Metro Manila via CAVITEx.
Northbound Trucks (Manila to North Luzon)
Option 1: Exit NLEX at Valenzuela → Take MacArthur Highway until Bocaue → Re-enter NLEX at Bocaue Toll Plaza.
Option 2: Exit NLEX at Mindanao Avenue → Take Quirino Highway to Norzagaray → Use Bocaue Bypass Road to re-enter NLEX.
Option 3: Use CAVITEx–SCTEx route via Subic for alternative northbound logistics.
For Private Cars & Light Vehicles
Southbound (Bulacan to Manila)
Option 1: Exit at Marilao → Take MacArthur Highway to Valenzuela → Re-enter NLEX via Mindanao Avenue.
Option 2: Use Marilao Service Road (parallel to NLEX) → Re-enter at Balintawak.
Northbound (Manila to Bulacan/North Luzon)
Option 1: Exit at Valenzuela → Take MacArthur Highway to Bocaue → Re-enter NLEX.
Option 2: Take Mindanao Avenue Exit → Use Quirino Highway toward Bocaue or Norzagaray.
For Buses & Public Transport
Buses to Northern Luzon (Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Ilocos) should take EDSA to Mindanao Ave. and enter NLEX via Bocaue.
Buses from Bulacan to Manila should exit at Bocaue and use MacArthur Highway toward the EDSA Balintawak terminal.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, urging motorists to follow these alternative routes to minimize delays.
