Pampanga candidates sign peace pact for safe polls

BACOLOR, Pampanga – Candidates vying for provincial positions in Pampanga gathered at San Guillermo Parish Church on Tuesday, March 4, for an interfaith rally and peace covenant signing, committing to uphold Safe, Accurate, Free, and Fair Elections (SAFE) in 2025.

Among the notable attendees were Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., who is running for the 1st District congressional seat, and 3rd District contenders Dr. Hazel Tumang, board member Mica Gonzales, and Pol Quiwa. Also present were 4th District aspirant Patrol Partylist Rep. Jorge Bustos, re-electionist board members Sajid Eusoof, Fritzie David-Dizon, and Claire David-Lim, along with aspiring and returning candidates Christian Halili, MyMy Gonzales, Rolly Macalino, and Ric Yabut. Gubernatorial hopeful Danilo Baylon and vice gubernatorial candidate Ed Panlilio also joined the event.

The ceremony, led by parish priest Rev. Fr. Ariel D. Limjoco, alongside an imam and Christian pastors, emphasized the role of faith in fostering clean and honest elections. Pampanga election supervisor Atty. Lydia Florentino-Pangilinan reminded candidates of their duty to uphold electoral integrity.

Security officials, including Pampanga police director Col. Jay C. Dimaandal and 70th Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col. Ryan Joseph Cayton, were also present to affirm their commitment to ensuring peaceful and orderly elections in the province.
