Pampanga daycare workers get P6.9M subsidy

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government of Pampanga recently distributed a total amount of P6,909,000 to 658 daycare workers (DCWs) in the province.

Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda led the distribution of the subsidy, undergarments and food packs along with board members Rosve Henson, Cherry Manalo and Fritzie David-Dizon at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

The governor said the provincial government recognizes the sacrifices of barangay daycare workers in developing the young minds of children.

The subsidy will also be a big help in alleviating the living condition of daycare workers, added Gov. Pineda.

According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) Officer Elizabeth Baybayan, the DCWs received P10,500 each for their services from June to December of this year.

It can be noted that the Provincial Board (PB) has approved the P500 monthly subsidy for daycare workers in 2011 and P1,000 in 2012. In 2016, they started receiving a monthly allowance of P1,500 from the provincial government.

During the event, the board members lauded the efforts of daycare workers whom they considered as unsung heroes.

“Never end your commitment to the children of Pampanga. With your effort, dedication and commitment, we’ll develop future leaders in the province and the country,” the board members said.

Records from the Department of Social Welfare and Development show that Pampanga is number one in Central Luzon with the accreditation of its daycare workers and daycare centers. –LIEZEL CAYANAN/PIO
