CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The provincial government of Pampanga is set to launch the country’s first floating clinic this third quarter of 2025.
Dubbed as the “Clinic-on-Barge”, it is a mobile health facility designed to provide primary healthcare services to Kapampangans residing in coastal communities.
Vice Governor Lilia Pineda said the provincial government has allocated P28 million for the 112-square meter floating clinic under the Alagang Nanay Preventive Healthcare Program.
“This project is a testament to our commitment to ensure that no Kapampangan is left behind when it comes to access to health and medical services,” she emphasized.
The facility can serve up to 200 patients and will offer a range of medical services including outpatient consultations, dental services, obstetrician-gynecologist check-ups for prenatal and maternal care, laboratory diagnostics such as ultrasound and x-ray, electrocardiogram, as well as minor medical and surgical procedures.
It will also have an in-house pharmacy to provide free maintenance and prescription medicines.
Provincial Health Officer Dax Tidula said the floating clinic is also equipped with a dedicated sewage treatment system and a water pumping facility to ensure sustainable operations even in remote locations.
“This is a game-changer in bringing health services closer to marginalized communities,” he noted.
The “Clinic-on-Barge” is currently docked in Minalin town, but may be deployed or docked in other coastal areas of the province once it becomes operational. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
