Pampanga partners with NCSC to promote the rights and welfare of senior citizens

The Provincial Government of Pampanga paid tribute to its senior citizens through a meaningful assembly aimed at empowering them with knowledge of their legal rights and the benefits available to them.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the gathering of 2,096 senior citizens from the province’s 1st, 3rd, and 4th Districts, emphasizing the vital role of the elderly as pillars of strength and sources of inspiration for Kapampangan families.

Joining the governor were 1st District Board Members Cherry Manalo and Christian Halili, 4th District Board Member Kaye Naguit, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Fe Manarang, who presented the Capitol’s various programs and incentives designed for the welfare of senior citizens.

National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Regional Director Emmanuel Daez discussed the agency’s key functions and the provisions of Republic Act No. 11982 or the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2024.

Liezel Llarves from the DSWD Region III also shared details about the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program, which provides financial assistance to elderly individuals with limited or no income.

Meanwhile, Mylene Lumber and Dr. Jocelyn Pangan of PhilHealth Regional Office III explained the benefits under the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), while Mark Apaya of Landbank introduced banking services tailored for senior citizens.

Participants likewise received ₱1,000 cash assistance, food packs, and free medicines during the event.

Through this initiative, the Provincial Government of Pampanga reaffirmed its commitment to championing the rights, dignity, and well-being of its elderly citizens, a province that truly honors, respects, and cares for the pillars of society.
