Pampanga, ready to help returning OFWs amidst nCoV outbreak

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The provincial government of Pampanga is willing to accommodate returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) referred by Department of Health (DOH) amidst the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Acute Respiratory Disease (2019 nCoV ARD) outbreak.

“We are very much willing to help OFWs who are returning from nCoV-affected areas, as well as individuals with travel history who are voluntarily going on self-quarantine,” Governor Dennis Pineda said.

The province is very much prepared for any outbreak since it has the right quarantine facilities identified by DOH and has the right personnel to handle the cases.

It also has adequate funds to provide needed additional facilities and equipment to better handle possible cases.

“For those who will undergo the 14-day quarantine, we will provide them with the right facility in coordination with DOH, Bureau of Quarantine and Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH),” Pineda said.

When it comes to monitoring of patients under investigation (PUIs), he said there is no problem since hospitals in Pampanga are capable of catering them.

Meanwhile, he added that OFWs with symptoms of the virus will be brought straight to JBLMGH.

Despite the number of PUIs reported in Central Luzon, the governor assured the public that there is no cause for alarm because the province is in full control of the situation.

He also expressed confidence that until the end of the month, the number of PUIs in the region will not increase since Clark International Airport already banned flights to and from China and its special administrative regions starting last Sunday.
