Pampanga records 1st case of COVID-19

A grab driver from Clark Freeport Zone has been confirmed positive of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Pampanga Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda announced this during a press briefing on Friday night.

This is the first case of COVID-19 in Pampanga.

The grab driver’s route, according to Gov. Pineda, is all around the province.

According to the Governor, the said patient is confined at a hospital in Metro Manila.

Currently, there are two persons under monitoring who had close contact with the patient.

The Governor reminded the public to stay calm and to not panic.

“Social distancing po tayo. Wala muna pong shake hands. Wala muna pong mano. Mag-bow na lang muna po tayo, or just simply say mano po,” he said.

According to him, the province is ready to face the disease, particularly on food supplies since the stock pile of the Provincial Government is enough and available.

The Governor is also appealing to Department of Health (DOH) to allow Pampanga to purchase their own testing kits. He said the province have enough fund for this.

Gov. Pineda further said the Provincial Government of Pampanga is under control of the situation.

“I am asking na payagan nila tayo bumili ng ating kit para ma-test lahat agad ng nagkakaroon ng symptoms. Kung sino man yung magiging supplier, dun tayo bibili,” he added.
