CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The provincial government held a follow-up meeting Wednesday, August 13, to assess the status of damaged flood control structures after weeks of heavy rains and flooding.
Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo led the talks with officials from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and local governments.

Updates included reinforcement works at Sta. Cruz Road Dike in Lubao, sandbagging in Guagua’s Brgy. Pulung Masle, and full reconstruction plans for the slope protection in Arayat’s Brgy. Candating.
The DPWH committed quick response funds, including ₱38.5 million for a damaged road section in Apalit and ₱40 million for road repairs leading to Macabebe. The agency is also addressing damaged slope protections in Minalin and Bacolor.

Officials also discussed major flood mitigation projects, such as Phase 2 of the Integrated Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation Project and the ₱115-billion Central Luzon–Pampanga River Floodway Project, expected to be a flagship solution to the province’s decades-long flooding problem.
