Christmas came early as 165 Senior Citizens in selected Barangays in Baliwag town unite for a Christmas Carol singing contest held recently at the Event Center of SM City Baliwag.
Dubbed as “Paskong Walang Kupas” the event highlighted Senior Citizens’ unique talents in singing classic Christmas songs such as Noche Buena, Pasko na naman, Ang Pasko ay Sumapit among others.
Wearing their colorful costumes and bright smiles, at least four groups competed for the challenge with Senior Citizens singing to the tune of popular Christmas carols.
Ms. Nica Cunan, SM Baiwag Communication Officer said, hailed as winners during the recently concluded Christmas carol singing contest were Group 1 led by Natividad Cruz- 1st placer, Group 4 led by Rizalina Antonio- 2nd placer, Group 2 led by Norma Ignacio- 3rd placer and Group 3 led by Narcisco Santa Juana- 4th placer.
“We are almost near to the most wonderful time of the year. As such, we would like to share the joy to the community by giving the stage to our beloved elderlies for them to express their talents in singing wonderful Christmas carols that we’ve grown up with” shares SM City Baliwag Assistant Mall Manager Rodora Tolentino.
The event coincides with Grandparents day previously celebrated at SM City Baliwag with Lolo, Lola and Me Dance Challenge featuring grandparents and their grandkids dance performances. National Grand Fit Fest, the biggest gathering of Senior Citizens for a Zumba session, then followed it.
With less than100 days to go until Christmas, “Paskong Walang Kupas” is among the many treats SM has in store for shoppers. It is definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas as SM Supermalls in Marilao, Baliwag, Pulilan and San Jose Del Monte recently began its countdown with dazzling entertainment and the launch of newest Christmas jingle “SM Mallidays”.
Apart from the parade and carols, Christmas kick-off event was made even more special with gift giving. At least 100 lucky kids were feted to fun activities and surprises during SM Mallidays kick-off.
