Paving the way for connected transport in Calamba

In a bid to enhance travel convenience and efficiency, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) collaborated with the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), the Local Government of Calamba City in Laguna, San Miguel Corporation (SMC), and Ayala Greenfield Development Corporation at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ayala Greenfield Interchange on October 14, 2024.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, represented by DOTr Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Jesus Ferdinand Ortega, affirmed the project’s significance, stating that it will provide motorists with additional access to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). This development aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the area, create more opportunities, and improve the quality of life for residents not only in Calamba but throughout the CALABARZON region.

Ayala Corporation and Ayala Land Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, along with SMC President and CEO Ramon S. Ang, both expressed gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in enhancing the quality of life in the Philippines through this initiative.

Calamba City Mayor Roseller Rizal remarked that the interchange represents more than just an infrastructural project; it stands as a symbol of progress and opportunity. He noted its role in addressing the increasing volume of vehicles and tourists flocking to Calamba, the resort capital of the Philippines and a vital growth corridor within the CALABARZON region.
