In its statement, the Philippine Business for Social Progress welcomed Lisset Laus-Velasco of Global Cars Philippines, Inc. as one of the Board of Trustees effective October 4, 2022.
Global Cars Philippines has been a member of PBSP since April 2021. Velasco through Global Cars Philippines has supported various programs of PBSP, particularly in education and skills development. She was Ford Salute to Dealers Honoree in 2021 and the award was used to fund a scholarship program that provided educational assistance to twelve Grade 12 automotive senior high school scholars from City TechVoc and Maimpis National High School in Pampanga. They were provided with allowances, student startup kits, and On-the-Job Training (OJT). Through her leadership, Ford Philippines and other Ford dealerships joined the Motolite – PBSP Balik Baterya Program.
“We are confident that Lisset’s knowledge, expertise, and dedication to social development will be an asset to the Board and the entire organization,” PBSP added.
Menawhile, the group also expressed its gratitude to Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC for his leadership and guidance as President from 2017 to 2020 and Trustee from 2020 to 2022. As Co-Chair of the Zero Extreme Poverty PH 2030 (ZEP2030) and PBSP Programs Committee Chair, his wisdom contributed to our collective pursuit of sustainable and inclusive development. Br. Armin led the establishment of different consortia and engagement platforms to rally PBSP members, donors, and partners to backstop various programs that assist beneficiaries, schools, and adopted communities. His dedication for the downtrodden and moral courage to stand for every human life are examples that will continue to light the way for all of us.
The entire organization stands by Br. Armin as he leads the Brothers of the Christian Schools as its 28th Superior General.
Said PBSP: “On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the people behind PBSP, we thank you for your continued support. Rest assured that PBSP will continue its mission and work toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and humane recovery.”
