Pecson tells Magalang residents to get vax jabs

Magalang Mayor Romulo Pecson has encouraged Magalang residents to to get vaccinated to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amid the threat of the Omicron variant.

Pecson earlier issued a resolution imposing a “no-vaccine, no-entry” policy for all private and public establishments within Magalang town, except for public markets and sari-sari stores.

Pecson also said contact sports like basketball and volleyball will be temporarily prohibited in line with the rules under Alert Level 3.

Employees of private and public companies within Magalang should be fully vaccinated to be allowed to work onsite, according to Pecson.

If not fully vaccinated yet, the workers are required to undergo RT-PCR Testing once every two weeks at their personal expense and must present a negative COVID-19 result before being admitted for work, said Pecson.

Pecson said the Magalang LGU will follow the guidelines of IATF and the Department of Labor and Employment.

He said all gatherings inside residences should be limited only for family members while mass gatherings such as Zumba, and face-to-face classes will be prohibited until Alert Level 3 is lifted.

“We will ensure to mandate and monitor minimum public health standards to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our city and in our country. Let us all follow the rules and guidelines under our MUNICIPAL IATF Resolution No.1,” said Pecson. — By Denzel Laurenz Aquino (Intern)
