PhilHealth pays P1.05B benefit claims to Pampanga district hospitals, ensuring zero-billing for poor patients

PhilHealth Region III disbursed Php1.05 billion in benefit claims to Pampanga’s 11 district hospitals for healthcare services rendered in 2024. The announcement, made on January 20, 2025, highlights the region’s success in implementing the No Balance Billing (NBB) policy, ensuring zero out-of-pocket expenses for PhilHealth members in government hospitals.

The payments covered services provided by the following hospitals: Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital, Domingo B. Flores District Hospital, Dr. Andres J. Luciano District Hospital, and others. The policy has particularly benefited poor patients across the province.

Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda expressed gratitude to PhilHealth Region III officials for achieving their Php1 billion target collections, reinforcing the province’s commitment to free healthcare services. She noted that the funds would also support medical and non-medical professionals in continuously delivering quality care.

“Sa tulong ng PhilHealth, walang binayaran ang mga pasyente nating mahihirap. Patuloy nating palalakasin ang serbisyong pangkalusugan para sa lahat,” Pineda emphasized.

PhilHealth also encouraged non-registered patients to enroll or update their records directly at hospitals for immediate access to benefits. Acting Vice President Henry V. Almanon and PCEO Emmanuel R. Ledesma Jr. reaffirmed PhilHealth’s commitment to expanding and improving benefits nationwide.

Under Ledesma’s leadership, PhilHealth increased benefit payouts by 95% in 2024, sustaining the zero-billing policy in public hospitals and reducing out-of-pocket costs in private facilities.

This achievement underscores PhilHealth’s critical role in enhancing universal healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable sectors. “PhilHealth is committed to continuously expanding benefits for all Filipinos,” Ledesma said.

With this development, Pampanga residents can look forward to strengthened healthcare services anchored on accessibility and equity.
