Philippine Air Force sends rescue team to Myanmar

MANILA — The Philippine Air Force (PAF) held a send-off ceremony on Monday for a contingent of rescuers and medical personnel set to be deployed to Myanmar as part of a humanitarian aid mission.

Lieutenant General Arthur M. Cordura, the commanding general of the PAF, led the ceremony at the PAF Gymnasium in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. The contingent, which includes members of the 505th Search and Rescue Group, aeromedical teams, and aircraft security personnel from the 710th Special Operations Wing, will depart on April 1 aboard a C-130 transport aircraft operated by the 220th Airlift Wing.

The deployment, undertaken in coordination with other government agencies, highlights the Philippine military’s commitment to providing rapid disaster response and humanitarian assistance beyond its borders. The mission reflects the country’s broader role in regional and global relief efforts.
