TANAY, RIZAL—The Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division marked its 49th Founding Anniversary in grand style by hosting the first-ever Reservists, ROTC, and Veterans’ Day at Camp Capinpin on March 29.

The event, led by 2ID Commander Major General Cerilo Balaoro Jr., gathered 203 ROTC cadets from six universities, 271 reservists from various Ready Reserve Infantry Battalions, and 48 veterans from the Eastern Rizal AFP Retirees and Pensioners Association. Highlights included a parade, capability demonstrations, and martial arts exhibitions featuring Arnis and other combat skills.
2ID Assistant Division Commander Colonel Virgilio Hamos Jr. praised the commitment of reservists, ROTC cadets, and veterans, while Maj. Gen. Balaoro emphasized their role in maintaining peace and security in Southern Tagalog. The festivities wrapped up with a traditional boodle fight, symbolizing unity among all participants.
The event is part of a series of activities celebrating the division’s nearly five decades of service, reinforcing its commitment to honoring military heroes and strengthening ties with future defenders of the nation.
