Philippines, EU expand aviation master plan talks

MANILA—The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is moving forward with efforts to strengthen the country’s aviation sector as it hosts the second mission of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) from March 31 to April 3, 2025. The discussions will focus on the development of the Philippine Civil Aviation Master Plan (CAMP).

Funded under the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package – Aviation Partnership Project (SCOPE APP), the initiative brings eight EU aviation specialists to collaborate with CAAP in aligning the country’s aviation framework with global standards. The upcoming meetings will refine findings from earlier assessments, including a situation analysis, benchmarking study, and strategic guidelines.

The three-day event, held at Citadines Bay City Manila, will feature capacity-building sessions and focus group discussions on key aviation areas such as airport master planning, airspace regulation, investment opportunities, environmental sustainability, and the National Aviation Safety Plan.

With participation from key industry stakeholders—including airlines, airport authorities, cargo operators, and government agencies—the initiative aims to position the Philippines as a hub for safe, sustainable, and resilient air travel in the region.
