CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Pre-registration for Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) is ongoing in Pampanga following its selection as one of the 32 provinces to pilot the implementation.
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region 3 Chief Administrative Officer Elna Ruth Casasola said pre-registration enumerators are already deployed to collect the demographic information of the target recipients.
“We started the pre-registration here in Pampanga last October 12, and it is still ongoing. Our staff are gathering the profiles such as name, age, and gender on a house-to-house basis,” she said.
Target pre-registrants for PhilSys are heads of low-income households identified in the Listahanan 3 by Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Relative to this, PSA plans to move the date of registration to December 14, after its postponement last November 25.
“There is a delay in registration because we have to do enhancements in terms of system integration. We have to have fixed registration centers with identified pre-registrants in their respective municipalities. Due to the huge number of those who pre-registered, it is a struggle to sort them in different venues,” she explained.
PhilSys identification cards have no expiration dates and can be availed by any person.
“If the person who registered is one year old or less, that person needs to renew at the age of 5, then at the age of 15. This is because of the change in appearance and finger prints. Once you are issued an ID when you are 16 years old and above, that would be permanent,” she added.
National identification cards are to be used in making simpler and safer transactions with the government and private sector by eliminating the need for multiple IDs in transactions.
