CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 3, in partnership with various government agencies, is set to hold its first ASEAN Multi-Sectoral Forum at the Trade Hall of SM City Pampanga on June 28, Wednesday.
“This is part of our yearlong hyping of the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). The forum seeks to draw about 300 stakeholders composed of government employees, teachers, students, farmers, small and medium entrepreneurs, indigenous peoples, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, and the media among others,” PIA Regional Director William Beltran said.
It shall feature discussions on the goals of the Philippine Chairmanship and the Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural Community Pillars of ASEAN.
“Guests and resource persons include City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago, Regional Development Council 3 Chairperson and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Export Marketing Bureau Director Agnes Perpetua Legaspi, and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director Gemma Gabuya,” Beltran added.
Albay 2nd district representative Joey Salceda was likewise invited to discuss the Tax Reform Bill.
“Alongside the forum is the conduct of Information and Service Caravan to be participated in by various government agencies who are members of the Regional ASEAN Awareness and Promotions Task Group. Each participating agency shall be given an adequate space to distribute Information, Education, and Communication materials and/or render actual services,” Beltran furthered.
Participating agencies include Bureau of Fire Protection, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Education, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Labor and Employment, and Department of Science and Technology.
Also, Department of Tourism, DSWD, DTI, Environmental Management Bureau, National Historical Commission of the Philippines-Museum of Philippine Social History, National Economic and Development Authority, National Nutrition Council, Northern Luzon Command, Office of Civil Defense, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine National Police, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
A similar event will be held in Malolos City on July 21.
