CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Pampanga Mayors’ League (PML) asked the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to provide Cash for Work (CFW) to 19 municipalities of the province.
The request was approved through a resolution during the PML’s special meeting yesterday, September 26, held in this city witnessed by Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda and DSWD Region III Director Marites Maristela.
Minalin Mayor Edgar Flores, concurrent PML president said the CFW allocations for each municipality, if approved by the DSWD, will give workers to chance to earn extra income in order to sustain their modest living.
“Aside from that, the livelihood assistance may as well contribute to community development,” Flores said.
Director Maristela said the department will immediately respond as soon as they receive the request depending on the availability of funds.
Maristela shared the DSWD programs such as Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps), Sustainable Livelihood Program, and Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens are now somehow helping uplift the lives of the Kapampangans.
These, the director stressed, will not be realized without the able and continuing assistance of the local chief executives in fast-tracking the implementation of said programs. Hence, she commended and expressed gratitude to the mayors’ league.
“The local government units play a vital role in the efforts of the national government in striving for a high-trust society that contributes to the alleviation of the lives of the marginalized Filipinos,” she said.
She added, “ a high-trust society allows Filipinos to enjoy a ‘maginhawa’,’matatag’, and ‘panatag na buhay’. It allows people to see economic pursuits and enjoy the fruits of their labor.”
