PNP, Comelec remove illegal campaign materials

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Pampanga Police Provincial Office and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) launched “Oplan Baklas” on Friday, cracking down on illegal campaign materials placed outside designated areas as the local campaign period for the 2025 midterm elections began.

Led by Pampanga police director PCOL Jay Dimaandal, authorities removed oversized posters and tarpaulins that violated Republic Act 9006 or the Fair Election Act. Under COMELEC rules, campaign materials must not exceed the size of a short or long bond paper, while tarpaulins are limited to 2×3 feet unless displayed at a candidate’s headquarters or residence.

Dimaandal stressed the importance of enforcing election laws to maintain a fair campaign season. “We are committed to ensuring a clean and orderly election process by strictly implementing campaign guidelines,” he said. The local campaign period runs from March 28 to May 10, leading up to election day on May 12.
