BOCAUE, Bulacan – The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified key rules on the use of legal firecrackers and pyrotechnics for the 2025 New Year celebrations.
During an inspection of major firecracker stores in Barangay Turo, Bocaue, PNP Chief Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized that legal firecrackers must only be used in designated common areas identified by barangay officials or homeowners’ associations. Firing them within private yards or inside homes is strictly prohibited.
The use of illegal firecrackers such as Bin Laden, Pla-pla, Piccolo, Goodbye Philippines, and other banned varieties remains prohibited. The production and use of improvised cannons like “boga” are also not allowed.
However, pyrotechnics and light displays are permitted within private yards or nearby open spaces.
Marbil ordered the police to confiscate illegal firecrackers being sold and shut down unauthorized storage or manufacturing facilities before and during New Year’s Eve.
Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando reiterated the provincial government’s support for legal firecrackers, highlighting their cultural significance. He urged the public to follow safety guidelines and support Bulacan’s micro, small, and medium enterprises involved in the production of firecrackers and pyrotechnics.
Fernando also reminded manufacturers to comply with the Philippine Standard Quality and Safety Mark set by the Department of Trade and Industry.
