PNP-Pampanga tightens security for Holy Week

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – With thousands of Filipinos expected to hit the roads for Holy Week and the summer season, the Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) is rolling out intensified security measures under “Oplan Ligtas SumVac 2025.”

Led by PCOL Jay C. Dimaandal, the campaign seeks to protect commuters, tourists, and churchgoers during one of the year’s busiest travel periods. At least 150 police personnel will be deployed across Pampanga’s cities and towns, focusing on terminals, churches, malls, highways, markets, beaches, and other high-traffic areas.

Oplan Ligtas SumVac is an annual initiative of the Philippine National Police to ensure safety and quick response to emergencies during summer and Holy Week activities. Pampanga PPO has issued directives to beef up checkpoint operations, increase mobile patrols, and maintain high police visibility in public spaces.

PCOL Dimaandal said the police are also coordinating with local government units, barangays, and other law enforcement bodies to manage traffic, prevent crimes, and maintain peace, especially in light of the ongoing campaign period for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

“This year is more challenging because of the election season,” Dimaandal said. “We’re watching out for threat groups or criminal elements who may exploit large crowds or disrupt peace and order.”

The police urge the public to stay alert, follow safety advisories, and immediately report suspicious activity. “Safety is everyone’s responsibility,” Dimaandal added. “With cooperation, we can ensure a peaceful and meaningful observance of Holy Week and summer vacation.”
