ANGELES CITY – Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. is eyeing a master plan for tourism here amid the vibrant development of the Clark International Airport.
“Tourism is a gold mine waiting to be unearthed. Fortunately, we have Clark and it is inevitable that it will be the main international airport in the next five to ten years,” said Mayor Lazatin.
The government is currently building the new terminal building that will increase capacity of the Clark International Airport, now the 3rd busiest airport in the country. In the first half of 2019, passenger volume at the Clark airport breached over one million passengers.
“Its development shall make Clark, and definitely Angeles City a tourist destination, both international and domestic. We are coordinating with the leaders of the industry and jointly, we will be crafting a city master plan for tourism,” said Mayor Lazatin.
However, Mayor Lazatin said the city government will improve its garbage collection to make the city clean and impressive. “In order to attract trade and tourism, we should make sure that the city is physically clean and impressive, and with a properly managed traffic system. Our garbage collection will definitely be given priority.”
Mayor Lazatin said the city government will implement a “Clean and Green” Project to protect and enhance the environment. More lighting system will be installed, according to Mayor Lazatin. “We will light up Angeles City not only for aesthetic value but more importantly for keeping our city streets safe at night.”
“I ask all sectors of society to give their share in keeping our city clean and beautiful. Your government does not have enough resources to do the job completely. We can only really clean up the city if each and every one of us does our share. Start in your own homes, in your neighborhood, in the streets, schools, offices and business establishments. Let us work for ‘Zero Garbage’ in Angeles City,” said Mayor Lazatin.
“We have to exhaust all efforts to secure the latest technology in solid waste management. Simultaneously with our cleaning efforts is the beautification of our city.
“The most important tourism asset of this city is its people. Part of my campaign is to develop our Human Resources. We can only do this if we can tap the colleges and universities and convert them into centers of excellence in culture, arts, culinary, digital and short films.”
