Angeles City Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin announced that he will run for city mayor in the upcoming 2019 elections.
“I will be running for mayor of Angeles City,” Lazatin said at the Pampanga Press Club’s “Talk Widus” conference at Widus Hotel and Casino on Wednesday.
Lazatin is the son of Former Pampanga First District Representative-now-Barangay Balibago captain Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin and brother of incumbent Congressman Jonjon Lazatin.
Councilor Lazatin said his mayoralty bid was a family decision.
He is set to run under the political party Partido Federalismo ng Pilipinas.
As for his party line-up, Lazatin said they are still on the selection process for his vice mayor and councilors. He mentioned that at least 16 individuals have applied to run as councilors under his team.
Should he win as city mayor, Lazatin plans to focus on healthcare particularly the availability of medicines to Angeleños.
