CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 provided Thursday food assistance to approximately 2,000 laborers in Central Luzon.
Police Regional Director PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia and Presidential Task Force on Media Security Executive Director Undersecretary Joel Egco distributed grocery packs, sacks of rice and dressed chickens to different members of the labor sector including market vendors, drivers, factory workers and farmers.
“This is in line with the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act. It also stands in sharp contrast to the possible conduct of massive protest of labor groups in time with the celebration of Labor Day tomorrow, May 1,” Sermonia said.
“We are truly grateful to all our stakeholders for these donations since these are of great advantage to us in fulfilling our commitment of delivering the best police services especially during this time of crisis. We are scaling up our relief operations to reach all members of the society particularly the vulnerable sectors. This time, we are extending our support to the labor sector whose role in our country is very vital. We want to send a strong message to our laborers that the government and the police are always here for them,” he stressed.
The activity was in partnership with the Joint Industrial Peace Concern Office. It is a prelude to another relief operation for laborers to be conducted Friday.
