ANGELES CITY, Philippines – A police operation against suspected motorcycle-riding criminals led to an armed encounter, leaving one suspect dead and another wounded on Monday, February 18, in Barangay Anunas. Authorities identified the injured suspect as Alexander Jake Ador Ting, a jobless resident of Magalang, Pampanga, while the other suspect remains unidentified.
According to the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), officers were dispatched around 5:30 PM after reports of two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle roaming around Korean Town. The police, conducting surveillance due to recent snatching incidents in the area, spotted the suspects riding a black Aerox motorcycle with no plate number. Upon interception, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot the officers but failed.
Police Master Sergeant Rommel Nool retaliated, resulting in the death of the driver and the wounding of Ting. Recovered at the scene were a .45-caliber Colt pistol with a defaced serial number, a magazine with six live rounds, one chamber-loaded bullet, and a fired bullet. A witness, identified as Anthony Magnum Concepcion, a driver from Barangay Cutud, provided his account of the incident.
The crime scene was processed by the Angeles City Forensic Unit led by Police Lieutenant Leo Gones. Prosecutor Joseph Quiambao conducted an on-site inquest, while the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) facilitated the transfer of the wounded suspect to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the suspects were involved in previous crimes in the area. Investigations are ongoing as police continue to monitor criminal activities linked to motorcycle-riding offenders in Angeles City.
