Porac officials suspended over POGO

The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the preventive suspension of several Porac officials, including Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil, former Vice Mayor Charlie Santos, and current Vice Mayor Francis Laurence Tamayo. This decision, signed by Ombudsman Samuel Martires on October 7, 2024, is due to allegations of gross neglect of duty concerning illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) in the municipality.

Additionally, members of the sangguniang bayan are also included in the suspension, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. The Ombudsman’s action aims to address the growing concerns surrounding the illegal gaming activities and ensure accountability among local government officials. The suspension is intended to allow for an impartial investigation into the matter, emphasizing the commitment to uphold the law and protect the integrity of public service in Porac. Further developments regarding this issue are expected as investigations proceed.
