Pregnant OFW in Ilocos Norte COVID positive

LAOAG CITY – A pregnant overseas Filipino worker from the United Arab Emirates who returned to her hometown in Solsona, Ilocos Norte, was found positive of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc said on Thursday.

In a statement after attending the launching of the molecular laboratory for Covid-19 testing at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC) in Batac City, Manotoc referred to the patient as IN-C4, a 30-year-old female from Barangay Catangraran.

The OFW was quarantined in a facility in Pampanga after arriving from the UAE. She reached Solsona on June 15 and was brought to the town’s Ligtas Covid-19 facility.

As the patient was preeclamptic, the Municipal Health Office referred her to the MMMHMC where she underwent a caesarian operation and swab testing.

The positive result of her Covid-19 test came out on June 17.

For the safety of the community, Mayor Joseph de Lara immediately locked down the town’s quarantine facilities while isolating persons who had close contact with the patient. (PNA)
