PRO3 honors heroes, strengthens security at Samat

San Fernando, Pampanga — On April 9, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) marked Araw ng Kagitingan by paying tribute to the valor of Filipino and American soldiers who defended Bataan and Corregidor during World War II. The commemoration reaffirms a nation’s gratitude to those whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire.

This year’s main event will be held at the historic Dambana ng Kagitingan in Mt. Samat, Pilar, Bataan, and is set to be led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., accompanied by national and local dignitaries, war veterans, and their families. The ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy of heroism and patriotism.

In preparation for the event, PRO3 has ramped up security efforts. Police personnel will be deployed across Mt. Samat and surrounding areas to secure VIPs, manage crowds, control traffic, and swiftly respond to any emergencies. The operation is being coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, and other agencies to ensure a smooth and safe observance.

Regional Director PBGEN Jean S. Fajardo emphasized that Araw ng Kagitingan is not merely a commemoration but a call to uphold the ideals of selflessness and unity embodied by the nation’s heroes. “Their sacrifice reminds us of the duty to protect these values, and PRO3 is fully committed to ensuring that this day is observed in a secure and orderly manner,” she said.

As the nation reflects on its storied past, PRO3 assures the public that full alert status is in effect across Central Luzon for the duration of the holiday. With robust security measures in place, the region is prepared to honor the heroes of the past while inspiring a commitment to service in the present.
