MANILA – Most areas in the country will continue to experience rains due to shear line and the northeast monsoon or amihan, the weather bureau said on Monday.
Shear line will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Dinagat, and Surigao provinces.
Flooding or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.
The northeast monsoon will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Aurora.
Likewise, it will cause isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, central Luzon, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Region 4-A (Calabarzon).
The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao.
Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the seaboard of northern Luzon, eastern seaboard of central Luzon, eastern seaboards of southern Luzon and the Visayas, western seaboard of southern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao.
Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
Meanwhile, the tropical depression (TD) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was last tracked 1,830 kilometers east of Mindanao.
Ezra Bulquerin of PAGASA said the TD may likely enter PAR as a severe tropical storm by Tuesday.Once inside PAR, the weather disturbance is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Eastern Visayas – Caraga area by Thursday or Wednesday night, he said. (PNA)
