CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) launched Friday the reinvigorated Oplan Alis Tigdas Program.
National government agencies were convened to pool together their resources, mandates and expertise for an active participation to free the region from the virus.
“We have come up with a plan that will primarily guide Department of Health and the council in heightening measures that will be performed to further reduce the spread of measles and to save lives,” Office of Civil Defense Regional Director and RDRRMC Chairperson Marlou L. Salazar said.
The plan contains actions for children and adults infected by the virus as well as proactive measures for communities to control casualties.
Decrease and increase of measles cases in the region will also be monitored through rapid coverage assessment.
For his part, DOH Regional Director Cesar C. Cassion said his agency advocates on attaining herd immunity wherein a vaccinated portion of a population or herd already provides protection for individuals who have not developed immunity.
Medical teams are deployed to a number of areas in the region to continuously administer house-to-house vaccinations and boosters.
“At present, DOH is working on a quicker and wider response to interrupt transmission of the virus and has procured more than adequate supplies for unvaccinated children aged 6-59 months,” Cassion added.
Hospitals have established measles fast lanes and isolation rooms for patients and suspected cases having 3Cs— cough, colds, and conjunctivitis.
