CABANATUAN CITY — Kinilala kagabi ng Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council o RDRRMC, ang mga nagwagi sa ika-19 na Gawad Kalasag Regional Awards.
Ayon kay Office of the Civil Defense o OCD OIC-Regional Director at RDRRMC Chairperson Edgardo Ollet, layunin ng taunang pagpaparangal na bigyang pasasalamat at pagkilala ang mga natatanging opisina’t institusyong tumutugon sa mga pangangailangang kahandaa’t kasanayan sa pagresponde at pagtulong sa panahong nagaganap o matapos ang sakuna.
Kinilala na Gawad Kalasag for Best Local DRRMC ang Pampanga (Province category), lungsod ng Olongapo (Highly Urbanized City category), lungsod ng San Fernando (Component/Independent City category), Baler sa Aurora (1st-3rd class Municipality category), at Barangay Pagas sa lungsod ng Cabanatuan (Barangay-Rural category).
Sa kabilang banda, Gawad Kalasag for Government Emergency Response Management winners ang Tarlac Provincial Disaster Assistance Response Team/Emergency Medical Services (Basic Search and Rescue category) at Olongapo Fire Rescue (Advanced Search and Rescue category).
Gawad Kalasag for Schools naman ang Cupang Elementary School (Rural category) at Camp Tinio National High School (Urban category).
At panghuli, Gawad Kalasag for Hospitals ang Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (Department of Health Regional, Teaching and Training Hospitals, and other National Government Hospitals category) at James Gordon Memorial Hospital (Provincial, City, Municipal, and District Hospitals category).
Ang ibang pang regional winners ay ang lungsod ng Balanga (pumangalawa sa Component/Independent City category), lungsod ng Palayan (pumangatlo sa Component/Independent City category), Dipaculao sa Aurora (pumangalawa sa 1st-3rd class Municipality category), San Luis sa Aurora (pumangatlo sa 1st-3rd class Municipality category), barangay Tortugas ng lungsod ng Balanga (pumangalawa sa Barangay-Rural category), City of San Fernando Rescue Unit (pumangalawa sa Basic Search and Rescue category), Bulacan Rescue (pumangatlo sa Basic Search and Rescue category), Dr. Felipe De Jesus National High School (pumangalawa sa School Urban category), Bataan General Hospital (pumangalawa sa Department of Health Regional, Teaching and Training Hospitals, and other National Government Hospitals category), at Mariveles Mental Hospital (pumangatlo sa Department of Health Regional, Teaching and Training Hospitals, and other National Government Hospitals category).
Ang mga nagwagi ay pinili ng isang kumite na binubuo ng mga kinatawan mula OCD, Bureau of Fire Protection, Army 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Information Agency, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine Red Cross, Department of Health, at Department of Agriculture.
Kaugnay nito, inilahad ni Ollet na apat sa mga regional winners ay pasok sa shortlist sa national level at sasailalim sa field validation.
