Remembering the legacy of kamikaze spirit

Clark Development Corporation President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera reflected on the legacy of the Kamikaze spirit, highlighting the supreme sacrifice of those who demonstrated selflessness in pursuit of their cause. In her message during the commemoration of the First Kamikaze Takeoff and the 80th Anniversary held at the Kamikaze West Airfield, Devanadera emphasized how this legacy extends beyond the war, embodying ideals of peace and the courage to build bridges among nations.

The event, organized by the Tokkotai Memorial Foundation in collaboration with Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), served as a solemn tribute to the Kamikaze pilots. Devanadera acknowledged their historical significance and their role in shaping history. She expressed hope that remembering their sacrifice would inspire current and future generations to unite in the pursuit of a better and more peaceful future.

Devanadera’s message was not just about remembrance, but a call for collective action towards understanding and reconciliation. By honoring the past, she stressed the importance of looking forward to a future of unity, cooperation, and peace among nations.

The ceremony was held on October 25, 2024, at Clark Civil Aviation Complex, the historic site of the Kamikaze’s first missions.
