Renato “Abong” Tayag Jr., a staunch advocate for environmental sustainability and community empowerment, passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 75.
As President of the Abacan River and Angeles Watershed Advocacy Council, Inc. (ARAW-ACI), Tayag spearheaded reforestation efforts and renewable energy initiatives in Pampanga, mobilizing communities to address climate and water security challenges. His “Adopt-a-Watershed Program” and “Subli” initiatives left a lasting impact on conservation efforts.
Beyond environmental advocacy, Tayag championed economic empowerment through his butchers’ training program, helping countless Filipinos secure job opportunities abroad.
Known for his integrity, fairness, and leadership, he was a respected Upsilonian who embodied Brotherhood, Integrity, Excellence, Leadership, and Service.
His legacy of service and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.
