Some 32 barangays in Bulacan were inundated by rains and high tide of Manila Bay.Governor Daniel Fernando on Monday continuously conducts monitoring from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Operation Center assisting Bulakenyos especially those in low-lying areas.Submerged were 8 barangays in Hagonoy, 18 barangays in Calumpit, 3 barangays in Balagtas, 2 barangays in Bocaue, and one in Marilao town due to high tide, heavy rain and dam releases.A total of 778 families were evacuated to evacuation centers in Malolos City and in other evacuation centers in Bulacan towns.PDRRMO head Liz Mungcal said the governor also gave instructions to prepare a list of response team for each local government unit to better keep track of the situation in each areas in the province.
Prior the arrival of the super typhoon, the Bulacan Sports Complex and Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium were readied as the two designated evacuation centers wherein a stockpile of 20,000 food packs were prepared.
There are also 42 designated evacuation centers in total located in the affected cities and towns including Cities of Malolos, Meycauayan and San Jose Del Monte and municipalities of Calumpit, Obando, Pulilan, Norzagaray, Bulakan, City of SaSan Miguel, Paombong, Hagonoy, Guiguinto, and Plaridel that are currently housing 778 families with 2,932 individuals.
Moreover, Fernando expressed his gratefulness the province is generally safe during the super typhoon.
“Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa ating dakilang Diyos at sa panalangin ng bawat isa na maging ligtas ang ating lalawigan sa unos na ito. Labis po ang akong paniniwala that “prayers can move mountains”. Malaking bagay din po ang mahigpit na ugnayan at pagsubabay natin sa tamang impormasyon at ang sama-sama nating pagsamo sa Panginoon. Bagama’t humihina na ang bagyo, patuloy pa rin po tayong mag-ingat at patuloy rin ang ating pagbabantay para sa ating kapwa Bulakenyo,” the governor said.
According to PAGASA’s severe weather bulletin no. 17, Typhoon Rolly is expected to exit Southern Luzon area until this morning and by Tuesday afternoon, it is expected to totally leave the Philippine area of responsibility.
Within 24 hours, coastal areas in Bulacan along with Quezon, Aurora, Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Pampanga and Bataan were included in the Orange Warning Level with 2 to 3.0 m storm surge.
