Pampanga businessman Rene Romero has urged the NLEX management to construct a bailey bridge in the Tulaoc, San Simon section which was inundated by floodwater.
Romero, who was stuck in the NLEX traffic for nearly four hours, said the sandbagging and pumping of floodwater in the area will not resolve the congestion.
“Hindi solusyon iyong ginagawa na sandbagging at pumping of water ng Nlex,” said Romero who spent hours at the Nlex expanse on his way to Manila along with thousands of irate motorists.
Jess Nicdao, of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAMCHAM) said there had been delays in the delivery of raw materials to businessmen in the provinces and this affects their operations.
Romero has urged the NLEX management to construct a bailey bridge to allow motorists to pass through while they try to resolve the flooding in the area.
“Kailangan maglagay din sila ng bailey bridge lalo na’t nasa 100 to 200 meters lang ang mayroong tubig baha na pwedeng daanan ng mga light vehicles,” said Romero.
Incessant rains brought about by Typhoon Egay and Falcon triggered an overflow of water in the Pampanga River which caused the inundation.
“Sana mag-isip naman sila ng tamang solusyon lalo na napakamahal ng singil nila (NLEX) sa toll fee. Maawa naman sila sa mga motorista,” said Romero.
