City of San Fernando, Pampanga—The Department of Education Regional Office III will celebrate the Oral Health Month through the “Sabayang Pagsisipilyo” of Kindergarten to Grade 3 learners on February 6, 2020.
During the region-wide activity, which shall be held simultaneously at 9:30 am after recess in all public elementary schools in Region III, students will perform the proper brushing drills and will be supervised by the dentists, health leaders, and school heads.
The Regional Oral Health Month Celebration aims to strengthen oral health awareness and service delivery, establish strong regional partnership with other agency in the provision of oral health services in schools, and promote dental health consciousness among the school populace.
This activity is also in line with the strengthened provision of health services in public schools as part of the Oplan sa Kalusugan sa DepEd or OK sa DepEd Program showcases the six major school health programs of the Department which include the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP); National Drug Education Program (NDEP); Adolescent Reproductive Health Education (ARH); Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Schools (WinS) Program; medical, nursing, and dental services; and the newly added program, the School Mental Health Program.
The objectives of the OK sa DepEd program include the provision of basic primary health, nutrition and dental services to learners to allow them to achieve their full educational potential; the practice of healthier behavior among school personnel and learners that they can do on their own; and the strengthening of linkages with health providers and the local governments for child and adolescent health services.•
