SAMAL, Bataan — The municipal government of Samal is intensifying its preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the town recorded its first positive case.
In a statement, Mayor Aida Macalinao said that according to a report of the Provincial Health Office, one of her constituents tested positive on Friday from the infectious disease.
In line with these, Macalinao ordered Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) to strictly enforce measures being undertaken in the town.
“Our BHERTS have the right to monitor and to restrict persons under investigations (PUIs) from going outside of their respective homes,” Macalinao stated.
She added that home quarantine passes given to residents who are now identified as PUIs will be revoked.
“I am also instructing the PNP [Philippine National Police] to strengthen measures being undertaken in every control points and checkpoints in the town,” she stressed.
Also, Macalinao reminded constituents on the implemented liquor ban and prohibited all residents who keeps on loitering in public places.
“To all our barangay officials, ensure that residents going outside their houses are those who have the home quarantine pass or approved travel pass,” the local chief executive added.
