STO. TOMAS, Pampanga – Reelectionist Mayor John Sambo is banking on his track record of governance as he seeks another term in the upcoming May 12 midterm elections. Running under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Sambo laid out his plans for Sto. Tomas in an interview with Pampanga journalists at Royce Hotel Clark on Tuesday, emphasizing continuity and progress.
Among his administration’s key achievements is the establishment of the country’s first Bagong Pilipinas Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service Center (BUCAS) in Sto. Tomas, made possible through support from the Department of Health, Congresswoman Ana York Bondoc, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, and Governor Dennis Pineda. He also announced a ₱100-million expansion project for the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) Ambulatory Surgical and Multispecialty Center and the launch of a medical school at Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) offering allied health courses.
Sambo outlined flood mitigation efforts, including dike construction, check gates, and pumping stations, which he plans to modernize with solar and electric power. He also cited the upcoming NLEX Sto. Tomas Interchange as a game-changer for economic growth and connectivity in Pampanga. With informal settlers resettled and road improvements underway, Sambo remains confident in his reelection bid, promising sustained development for Sto. Tomas.
