Santa Rita officials inspect flood-prone creek

SANTA RITA, Pampanga – In observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2025, Santa Rita Mayor Reynan Calo and MDRRM Officer Bryan Lumba conducted a site inspection of Sapang Maragul Creek, a known flood-prone waterway, as part of the municipality’s preemptive disaster preparedness efforts.

Despite clear skies during the visit, the inspection came on the heels of a weekend of continuous rainfall, highlighting the town’s heightened alertness as the rainy season unfolds.

The inspection aimed to identify potential risks and ensure that drainage and flood mitigation measures are in place to prevent creek overflow, which has historically affected nearby communities.

“This is part of our proactive approach under the Bayung Santa Rita agenda. We want to ensure our town is always one step ahead, especially when it comes to safety and disaster readiness,” said Mayor Calo.

The local government emphasized that early action and consistent monitoring of flood-prone areas are key to protecting lives and property amid the growing impact of climate-related weather events.
