MANILA, Philippines – The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has formalized its partnership with race organizer Sunrise Events, Inc. to host Ironman and Ironman 70.3 triathlons, along with related events like Ironkids, inside the Subic Bay Freeport from 2025 to 2030.
SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño and Sunrise Events General Manager Maria Christina “Princess” Galura signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on March 25, 2025, at the agency’s boardroom.
The long-term deal cements Subic Bay Freeport’s reputation as a premier triathlon destination, with its well-established race routes and world-class facilities attracting local and international athletes.
Senior Deputy Administrator for Support Services Atty. Ramon O. Agregado and Sunrise Events Inc. Director and Legal Counsel Atty. Santi Polido stood as witnesses to the signing.
The partnership aims to further boost sports tourism in the area, with Subic Bay continuing to serve as a hub for endurance events in the country.
