TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the provincial government of Tarlac partnered against investment scams.
It was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for project SEC Communication, Advocacy, and Network (SEC-CAN), which aims to strengthen the campaign against scams, illegal financing schemes, and money laundering.
SEC Tarlac Extension Office (TEO) Director Richard Laus said the collaboration will shed light on the fundamentals of investing, financial literacy, investor protection, and investment scams.
“SEC-CAN seeks to educate the investing public about their rights and options, encourage entrepreneurs to incorporate and guide them in doing so, and inform stakeholders about the programs, services, and other policies the commission implements,” he added.
In the project, SEC commits to provide resource persons and facilitators for the training to be conducted by the provincial government in relation to financial literacy, investor protection and SEC reportorial requirements.
It will also assist Public Employment Service Office beneficiaries in the registration and compliance with their regulatory requirements.
Recently, SEC-TEO awarded Certificates of Incorporation to a total of 18 newly-registered Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
