In a candid address at the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (MACCII) general membership meeting, Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian underscored the complexities of crafting effective legislation amid competing interests. “For 23 years in public service, it has been a contentious issue to come up with a bill that will help everyone. Like bills in taxation, there’ll always be losers and winners, but we are trying our best to minimize the losers and pass the law that will really benefit the country,” he remarked, setting the tone for a discussion that aims to address pressing economic challenges in the post-pandemic era.
The event, held at the Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort, served as a platform for the election of new board members and the induction of new MACCII members. Gatchalian, who chairs the Senate Committees on Basic Education and Ways and Means, emphasized the need for legislative action to reinvigorate the national economy, which has struggled to regain its pre-pandemic momentum.
In addition to Gatchalian’s remarks, the gathering offered a valuable opportunity for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase their products. Selling booths were set up to facilitate networking and business matching among attendees, fostering collaboration and growth within the local business community.
The event was supported by various sponsors, including RMM Cold Storage and Meat Shop, CashKO Insurance Brokerage, Primac, Petnet Forex Solutions, Kandi Realty, and Clark Electric Distribution, who contributed to the success of the occasion.
As the chamber continues to navigate the challenges of a changing economic landscape, Gatchalian’s call for balanced legislation resonates as a crucial step toward ensuring equitable growth for all sectors of society.
