After the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go distributed assistance to some 606 families and affected residents who were hard hit by flash floods due to heavy rains brought about by the said typhoons in Calumpit and Marilao towns in Bulacan province on Tuesday.
Go visited first the residents of Calumpit which was submerged into 4 to 7 feet of floodwaters particularly Barangays Meysulao and San Miguel where 250 families have received food packs and cash assistance.
Sen. Go then immediately proceeded to Marilao town where assistance was also extended to some 356 families.
Go was accompanied by personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which provided the P3,000 cash assistance. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) also conducted interview for those who availed of the “sari-sari store” or “Pangkabuhayan Package while the National Housing Authority (NHA) provides housing materials for those who have lost houses.
Strict compliance to health protocols was made to avoid the spread of COVID-19 during the distribution activities.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) also brought 25 million bangus fry for fishpond operators and owners, 100 sacks of rice and 5,000 pieces of sardines.
“Kami po ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, ang gusto namin ay masigurong safe kayo at matulungan sa abot ng aming makakaya,” Go said. “Huwag kayong magpasalamat sa akin. Ako ang dapat magpasalamat sa inyo dahil binigyan nyo ako ng pagkakataon na maserbisyuhan kayo”.
Go also distributed face masks, face shields, 20 pcs of bicycles, vitamins and 20 tablets as he also gave pairs of shoes to the male typhoon victims while his friend actor Phillip Salvador gave his watch and sunglass to a female and male recipients.
The senator’s team accompanied by Bulacan officials headed by Governor Daniel Fernando and Vice Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado Marilao, Mayor Ricky Silvestre and Vice Mayor Henry Lutao assisted by the PDRRMO and PSWDO during the distribution activities.
Gov. Fernando thanked Senator Go and President Duterte for their support to the Bulakenyo people.
On Monday, Fernando led the provincial government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office the relief operation, food pack distribution to over 14,200 families in the municipality of Balagtas which was also affected by typhoon Ulysses.
The beneficiaries were from the villages of Borol 1st, Wawa, San Juan and Panginay.
