Olongapo City – Presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos led the opening of a day care center in this city on Saturday morning December 21.
The day care center was funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and was implemented by the city government.
According to Mayor Lenj Paulino, the construction of the center was completed within two months since it started construction.
Paulino welcomed the Senator during her visit to Olongapo City.
The said day care center is a subproject construction of a two storey early child development center in Barangay Pag-Asa that will cater to children who are still below the elementary school level.
Also present during the inauguration and turnover of the said facility are Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Director Rolen Paulino, Councilor Vicvic Magsaysay, Barangay Captain and ABC President Echie Ponge, officials from DSWD, and other local government officials.
Senator Marcos also gave out toys and food to the students of the new day care center as well as the kids in the Barangay at the Nutrijeep parked at the basketball court of the Barangay Hall.
Marcos also danced with the local Zumba dancers of Olongapo City at the Marikit Park earlier as part of her Zumbarangay project.
The senator was elated as senior citizens took part in the Zumbarangay event, citing that moving is a key factor in keeping one’s self healthy.
Marcos said that Olongapo City will always have a special place in heart, citing that it is the reason why she always love to visit the city.
She added that the residents of Olongapo City can expect more projects that will uplift their lives in the coming future.
