Senator seeks Senate probe on PrimeWater service woes

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Risa Hontiveros has called for a Senate investigation into the poor service of PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp., citing numerous citizen complaints, especially during the peak of the dry season.

Hontiveros filed a resolution urging the Senate Committee on Public Services to look into joint venture agreements between local water districts and private firms like PrimeWater, which is owned by the family of Senator Cynthia Villar.

“Some of these agreements have been found by the Commission on Audit (COA) to be disadvantageous to the government,” Hontiveros said in a Facebook post. She emphasized the need to protect consumers and ensure accountability in water service delivery.
