BOCAUE, Bulacan — Senator Joel Villanueva led the groundbreaking rites for the construction of the first ever P250-million public hospital in this town, Joaquin T. Villanueva Medical Center (JTVMC) held on Monday during groudbreaking ceremony in Barangay Igulot .
The said hospital will be constructed in a 9,425 square meters is an extension of Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital located in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna said, the entire lot is almost across the 140-hectare country’s biggest sports stadium Philippine Arena was donated by the Villanueva family and named after the senator’s grandfather who was a veteran of World War II and Olympic sprinter who represented the country at the Far Eastern Games for four consecutive years in the 1920s.
The hospital will have a 50-bed capacity and can employ up to 150 medical and allied health professionals including jobs in administration, engineering, and housekeeping.
The lady mayor added that the JTVMC will be departmentalized and equipped with the services in the specialties of medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, among others.
“We express our sincerest gratitude to the national government for supporting our advocacy in providing quality healthcare to our kababayans. For the longest time, the municipality did not have its own hospital,” Sen. Villanueva said.
There will also be a provision for general intensive care unit (ICU) for critically-ill patients, tertiary clinical laboratory, and imaging facility and mobile x-ray within the center.
“With the construction of the Joaquin Villanueva Medical Center, the people of Bocaue no longer have to endure the long lines at public hospitals in Malolos or Sta. Maria,” the Bulakenyo senator added.
“The construction of this hospital will provide access to affordable and quality health service to the residents of Bocaue. This project is part of our commitment to continue and improve our health programs not just in the province of Bulacan but in the entire country as well,” he said.
The Deed of Donation was handed over to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bocaue witnessed by Senator Villanueva and thousands of Bocauenos during the mayor’s SOMA dubbed as “Ang Paglalayag..” last year.
Mayor Villanueva said that the land was bought by her father Bro. Eddie Villanueva founder of Jesus Is Lord (JIL) in 2002 and named to her, that’s why before she decided to donate the land property to the Bocauenos she asked first the permission of her father and her mother Sister Dory together with her siblings including the senator which all agreed for the sake of humanity and the people of Bocaue.
“Hindi po ito pamumulitika, Pagiging tao ito na nakakaramdam sa paghihirap ng ating mga kababayan. Pagiging tao ito na nagnanais tumulong sa nawawalan ng pag-asa. This is humanity in action,” the mayor said.
