SM Foundation Inc., the charitable arm of the SM Supermalls, in partnership with the City of San Fernando, served over 1000 patients — including children and senior citizens alike –receiving free medical, dental and laboratory services through a Medical and Dental Mission Caravan on March 8 at SM City San Fernando Downtown.
Gamot para sa Kapwa Medical Mission is spearheaded by SM Foundation Medical head Dra. Maria Blesilla Bertos and Manila-based volunteer doctor Gloria Mendoza together with project partners City Health Office of San Fernando headed by Dra. Eloisa Aquino, City Social Welfare and Development, and in time for the National Women’s Month celebration of the city.
SM Foundation’s Gamot Para sa Kapwa aims to provide ancillary services to communities which have limited or no access to such services, to give literacy programs to enable communities and individuals to prevent and manage diseases and illnesses after the medical mission, and to provide an avenue to encourage health advocacy, multi-sectoral coordination and community participation.
Beneficiaries availed the following medical and dental services – medical and dental consultations, blood pressure check-up, blood typing, blood sugar testing and monitoring, height and weight check-up.
Through the SM Foundation Mobile Clinic, diagnostic and laboratory services were also be provided such as X-ray and Electro Cardiograph, it also include tests for Uric, Glucose and Cholesterol level and dental extractions. SM Foundation also gave away free medicines to the beneficiaries. The next SM Foundation Gamot Para sa Kapwa caravan will have it stop on April 20 at SM City Pampanga.
