Mexico, Pampanga — SM Pampanga, Clark, San Fernando Downtown and Olongapo employees and volunteers have joined the annual Department of Education’s (DepEd) national maintenance weekend dubbed as ‘Brigada Eskwela’.
According to Aaron Montenegro, SM City Pampanga Mall Manager, “in the spirit of unity and volunteerism of employees, agency personnel and security force of the mall engaged themselves in the school maintenance activities and shared time, effort and resources as their corporate social responsibility that empowers volunteerism.”
Montegro said they help in ensuring the cleanliness and preparedness of Masamat Elementary School in Mexico for their school opening in June. “Di lang yun this Is our third year helping MES before we renovate and repaint their library and we were glad they maintain it and nakakataba ng puso iyon.”
He said the team led the cleaning and beautification of the said school campus by removing weeds and sweeping the dried leaves in school garden, repainting their fence grills and fences, cleaning up their rooms and their visual aides, repairing tables and chairs and other maintenance activities in the stated schools.
Meanwhile, Montenegro said the SM City Pampanga lauded the MES Principal their school partner in the past 4 years now for being most competitive school not just in DepEd Division of Pampanga as well as the region since 2014.
MES school principal Juanito Rigor, expressed his gratitude to SM Pampanga for continuously helping their campus not only during the opening of classes, but all throughout the year.
The Brigada Eskwela is an annual activity of the DepEd participated by teachers, school heads, parents and other stakeholders in the community to ensure the readiness of school facilities come first day of school year.
SM Pampanga PR Manager Rain Cervantes said they also have simultaneous “Brigada Eskwela” activites. Other Sm Malls such as SM Clark conducted ‘Brigada Eskwela’ at Sapangbato Elementary School in Angeles City; SM SF Downtown in Sta. Lucia Elementary School in City of San Fernando; and SM City Olongapo in Gordon Height II Elementary School.
Cervantes added that over the years, SM Supermalls continuously join such activity as it is committed in promoting best education by providing conducive learning environment and empowering volunteerism.
